The purpose of this assignment is to reflect on your research process and revise your source list from the “Finding Information Sources: Research Documentation Assignment.” The research process is rarely linear and we shift and change as we go along, interpreting new information and revising our positions based on our research. This assignment asks you to reflect on that process as you prepare your final project.
This assessment fulfills the following objectives:
MLO 3.1 Reflect on the effectiveness of your research question and the research process (REFLECT and DESIGN).
MLO 3.2 Evaluate the effectiveness of your sources for answering your research question within the scope of your project (PREPARE).
MLO 3.3Demonstrate evidence of scholarly research (PREPARE and CREATE).
MLO 3.6 Compose an effective thesis/purpose statement for your research project (CREATE and COMMUNICATE).
Instructions
Your revision and reflection assignment will consist of two elements: 1) a reflection narrative that analyzes and reflects on your research process and 2) a revised bibliography for your project.
Your reflection narrative should address the following elements:
Your project thesis: You should clearly state the thesis (main purpose) for your project and how you arrived at that thesis through your research;
Your research process since you completed the Research Documentation assignment: You should discuss how your project evolved, if it did, on these elements
Scope,
Has the scope of your project shifted throughout the research process? If so, how?
Have you redefined your project’s parameters? If so, how?
Have you reflected on the appropriateness of the genre and medium you have chosen for your final project?
Approach/Perspective,
What did you from your research that shifted your critical lens (perspective), method(s), philosophy, strategies, and/or design of the research project?
Your strategies: What strategies did you use to execute your research project? Were they effective? Why or why not?
Context,
Have you shifted on the research conversation in which your project is situated? If so, how?
Have you refined your audience for the project? If so, how?
Has your context shifted since you began the research process? If so, how?
The narrative portion of your Revision and Reflection assignment should be at least 500 words and you should have at least ten sources for your project bibliography.
