Refer to your first assignment where you have just been appointed as the athletic director at Champ University, a Division II member institution of the NCAA.
For this next task, construct a policies and procedures manual for your athletic department. You will present this manual to your department in the form of a PowerPoint presentation.
Start by researching the literature regarding recommended content of policy manuals as well as a variety of intercollegiate athletic manuals. Use these examples and information to decide what you will include in Champ’s policy and procedures manual. This manual should be designed for an audience of staff and student athletes.
Begin your PowerPoint presentation by addressing the importance of this policy and procedure manual and the goals steering your manual. Then, compare and contrast other institutions’ manuals (minimum of three, one must be from a Division II institution). Review policies and procedures manuals from at least three universities as part of your research to justify what you would include in this manual. Be sure one of these is a Division II institution.
Consider the following as you develop your presentation:
What would you include?
What would you omit?
What areas are important for you to address at Champ University?
How will you address the NCAA rules and regulations, specifically Division II standards?
After reviewing and highlighting other manuals, provide a general outline of your own manual. Include a cover page, table of contents, and major areas to be adopted in Champ’s manual. However, you do not need to create the entire manual, but the basic framework should be provided.
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics to enhance your presentation. Each slide MUST include ‘speaker notes.’ The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists of 100-150 words. You may also record voice-overs throughout the presentation instead of writing speaker notes.
Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate title and reference slide)
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each ‘speaker note’
References: Minimum of three to five scholarly resources
Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style.
Your presentation should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your presentation should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
