Now that you have examined the literature and developed the structure for the proposed group, it’s time to put the pieces together. Assume your supervisor has asked you to assemble all your work to present to the rest of the clinical team. Consider the feedback you’ve received from the previous assignments and complete the following:
· Section 1: Compare and contrast the applicability of different group leadership or facilitation styles and approaches (First section of u04a1).
· Section 2: Integrate theoretical orientation and group leadership and facilitation styles into the group structure and development processes and support choices with recent academic research (u06a1).
· Section 3: Based on your analysis of the research, develop a succinct action plan appropriate for the selected group topic and population. Include session activities and interventions aligning with measurable group outcomes established in u06a1. Make sure that your action plan:
o Is based on a specific major counseling theory.
o Supports therapeutic factors of a group in the working stage (see Chapter 8 in your text).
o Incorporates multicultural and diversity awareness, knowledge, and skills.

· Written communication: Written communication must be grammatically correct and free of errors that detract from the overall message. Writing should be consistent with graduate-level scholarship.
· APA formatting: Title page, main body, and references should be formatted according to current edition APA style and formatting.

· Length of paper: 10–12 typed, double-spaced pages plus title and reference pages. Abstract and Table of Contents are not necessary.

Start writing your introduction here (1-2 paragraphs). An effective introduction prepares the reader by identifying the purpose of the paper and providing the organization of the paper. Please double-space and remember to indent all paragraphs throughout your paper (not block form!). Aim to keep your writing objective using 3rd person (see handout in the Discussion board). Unless required for the specific assignment, please do not include a Table of Contents, as it is not APA style. Review paper guidelines on page requirements and number of sources required (if provided.) Unless citing a classic work, aim to cite research articles and texts published within the past 5 years. Please use headings throughout your paper that are consistent with the paper’s scoring guide (that way you ensure you are adequately addressing all required areas.)
When you finish writing your paper, re-read it to check for errors and make sure your ideas flow well. A helpful tip is to read your paper aloud to yourself. Section 1: Comparing Supporting Literature
Review the feedback provided for u04a1, particularly the first section of the u04a1scoring guide that matches the first one for u10a1. Select and edit this portion of u04a1 to include here. Edits will likely be needed to meet the Distinguished criterion, “Evaluates the strengths, weaknesses, and applicability of sources that compare and contrast the applicability of different group leadership or facilitation styles and approaches”. Focus upon the relative merits of the literature that researched group approaches for your target population. Copying your entire submission for u04a1 is not your best strategy. If the feedback for u04a1 pointed out that the comparison or evaluation was missing, here is your chance to correct that oversight.
Section 2: Theory and Group Leadership
The entire submission of u06a1 is not needed and may detract from meeting the second Distinguished criterion. It reads, “Skillfully integrates theoretical orientation and group leadership and facilitation styles into the group structure and development processes and supports choices with recent academic research”. Notice that this matches the third section of u06a1 addressing theory. Edit that section based upon your instructor’s feedback and include it here.
Section 3: Multicultural and Ethical Issues
This third section addresses the third and fourth criteria of the scoring guide, “Evaluates the ethical and legal considerations involved in working with a specific group therapy model and an identified population and identifies potential consequences of ignoring these considerations” and “Consistently, skillfully, and appropriately incorporates multicultural and diversity awareness and knowledge to the processes of structuring and developing a group”. Review the feedback from u06a1 for the last two scoring criteria, which match the two referencing ethical and multicultural issues here. Make needed edits. It is likely that you need to revisit the consequences of not addressing ethical issues such as confidentiality. Multicultural considerations may have been woven into u06a1. Highlight and expand upon issues that would need to be addressed in a group with a diverse membership. While this is only one section, it accounts for 28% of the assignment not 14%. Be certain the content in this section reflects both ethical AND multicultural issues.
Section 4: Action Plan for Group Activities and Interventions
The last section addresses the final section of the scoring guide with the Distinguished criterion, “Develops an action plan for the proposed group that is tailored to support therapeutic factors of a group in the working stage with carefully selected academic resources that support the action plan”. This is new content for your proposal and addresses the three bullet points at the end of the instructions. These interventions or activities need to be grounded in the specific counseling theory described in Section 2. Covering this section in two pages will provide a very focused plan for a group that is clearly supported by the literature (citations needed) and considers the implications of diverse group members. Please note that this section is worth 30% of the grade because it represents work that is new rather than edited from the previous assignments.
