This is what I have so far for 1 and 2 and 3. I hope I'm doing it right? Any help would be much appreciated! Any hints on writing this paper aremuch appreciated, especially step 3 and 5! I am in an introduction to Programming Logic Class and I am just learning this material.
1. A big problem in my community is heavy traffic. I believe that the main problem involves our traffic lights. This problem affects everyone from people drivingto work, kids getting to school on time, to trucks trying to make their delivery on time. There also has been a lot of accidents in the area lately.
2. To understand the problem we must first understand the flow of traffic. We need to figure out when the traffic flow is heaviest and when it is lightest. We needto figure out how many people use our main roads and what times of the day traffic is at its heaviest. We need to see the traffic lights as our regulators oftraffic.
3. One solution would to be putting out unmanned speed stations with vehicle counters to keep traffic at a steady flow and also count the number of vehicles and atwhat time of day the traffic is heaviest. Another solution might be to have a camera count the cars and if a certain amount of vehicles come through during a givenamount of time we would know how and when we need to adjust the traffic lights.
