This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:
CO 1: Examine the role of epidemiology and population health in advancing healthcare outcomes and equity. (POs 1, 2, 5)
CO 2: Evaluate population health-based data to advance healthcare outcomes and equity at the local, national, and global levels. (POs 4, 5)
CO 3: Appraise ethical, legal, regulatory, and professional standards in epidemiology and population health to advance healthcare outcomes and equity. (POs 3, 4, 5)
CO 4: Apply advocacy for population health interventions to advance healthcare outcomes and equity. (PO 5)
CO 5: Develop processes to promote population health during disasters and public health emergencies. (POs 1, 5)
Preparing the Collaboration Café
Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the Collaboration Café. Contact your course faculty if you have questions.
Include the following sections:
Application of Course Knowledge: Answer all questions/criteria with explanations and detail.
Select a recent infectious disease outbreak, such as Ebola, Covid-19, H1N1 influenza, measles, or a foodborne illness outbreak. Identify a reliable source of epidemiological information to review the outbreak.
What was the level of threat (outbreak, epidemic, or pandemic?)
What were the key strengths of the public health response? Consider communication strategies, containment measures, and coordination between stakeholders.
Identify lessons learned from the response that could inform future outbreak management and response efforts.
Engagement in Meaningful Dialogue: Engage peers by asking questions and offering new insights, applications, perspectives, information, or implications for practice:
Communicate using respectful, collegial language and terminology appropriate to advanced nursing practice.
Professionalism in Communication: Communicate with minimal errors in English grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation.
